Jake from State Farm, a 9-year-old Labrador retriever found roaming around Waco, Texas with a large mass on the side of his neck, underwent surgery to remove the tumor. The cancerous mass had spread from the salivary gland up to Jake's ear. Doctors at Texas A&M's School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences removed as much of the tumor as possible, partially funded by donors who saw his story on social media. After undergoing chemotherapy to reduce the risk of the cancer returning, Jake was adopted by veterinary practice manager Josie Brown, who is draining the tumor of fluid once a week to keep it from getting too large. Despite having to deal with the return of the tumor, Jake is living his best life and enjoying being with his people.
