Students and veterinary surgeons at UC Davis used a 3D-printed mask as a cast for a four-month-old puppy with a broken cheekbone, fractured jawbone, and dislocated mandibular joint. The Exo-K9 mask stabilized her jawbone, and she was fitted with a padded neck bandage to limit her range of motion while healing. Loca had to avoid normal activities while wearing the mask and was fed soft food until fully healed. The surgery was successful, and she is expected to recover fully.
