Hershel, a rescue dog who spent five years in shelters in Ohio, has been adopted into a forever home just in time for his seventh birthday. The Lake Humane Society (LHS) fostered Hershel for a week to help him adjust to his new family, including his new "canine sister." According to the LHS, Hershel has settled in perfectly and is already very loved. The efforts of LHS to generate adoption interest for Hershel, including a press release and training, paid off when he finally found a loving home. Commenters on LHS's Facebook post congratulated Hershel on his new life, with one person expressing gratitude for adopting an overlooked shelter dog like Hershel.
