Oakley, a black Lab mix, was abandoned with two other dogs in rural Oklahoma and left to fend for themselves. They wandered the countryside for over a week, sleeping in a tin tube under the road with no shelter. A Good Samaritan alerted animal rescuer Alysse Matlock, who rescued Oakley, the first of the three to be rescued.
Matlock took Oakley back to her home where she arranged his medical care and fostered him. In a few months, Oakley's skin and eye conditions had greatly improved, and he was ready for a permanent home. A family from Minnesota saw Matlock's Instagram video about Oakley's inspiring story and knew they had to meet him. They drove all the way to pick him up and he has been a perfect fit ever since.
