Tia and Tamara were two of the four black kittens rescued in Arkansas in October. Tia was found on a farm, malnourished, and with a broken leg that required emergency surgery. Similarly, Tamara had a severely bent back leg and botflies embedded deep in her skin that needed to be surgically removed. Both kittens underwent successful surgery and are now on their road to recovery. Binx and Maxilla, two other black cats rescued during the same month, also required emergency surgery due to degloved jaws. The rescue organization suspects deliberate abuse and neglect towards black cats due to prevalent myths and superstitions. Community Cats of Central AR is a small non-profit organization relying on donations to save cats and kittens from rural towns with high animal cruelty rates.
