A chihuahua named Timon and a pig named Pumbaa were rescued by the Arizona Humane Society after their owner was arrested. Despite not recommending that dogs and pigs live together, the staff noticed the strong bond between them. The shelter contacted Better Piggies Rescue to care for Pumbaa's medical needs and both animals were eventually given a permanent home at the sanctuary. Pumbaa has become an ambassador at the facility and Timon is being trained to become a sanctuary dog. Better Piggies Rescue is one of Arizona's only sanctuaries dedicated to pigs.
