Jaden Smith continues to impress us with his bold and unconventional outfits. Just like at Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s wedding last May, where he wore a Batman suit, and his high school prom last month, Smith always manages to turn heads with his unique attire. Finally, he has revealed the reason behind his superhero wardrobe.

According to Smith, he started dressing up as his favorite superheroes when he was young. He would wear a Batman or Spider-Man suit along with duck boots and “never take them off”. So, it is no surprise that for a fashion-forward event like Kimye’s wedding, Smith chose his favorite outfit. He wanted to be ready to protect the wedding guests at any moment. Smith explained, “I wore the Batman suit to heighten my experience at the wedding and prom which was fun, but also at the wedding I felt as though I needed to protect everyone there and needed to have the proper gear to do so.” It seems that he took on the role of protecting the guests from the paparazzi during the private wedding ceremony.

Even though most formal occasions call for a traditional suit, Smith always styles his outfits to feel like a superhero. He said, “I’m just expressing how I feel inside, which is really no particular way because everyday it changes how I feel about the world and myself, but I like wearing super drapey things so I can feel as though I’m a superhero, but don’t have to necessarily wear superhero costumes everyday.”

Smith’s style icons include Batman, Robin, Nightwing, Superman, and Kanye West. It makes one wonder if West’s next Yeezy for Adidas fashion show will involve long capes.
