Jay Ellis fondly remembers his time working with his late co-star, Angus Cloud, on the movie Freaky Tales. At the Sundance Film Festival premiere, Ellis praised Cloud, who sadly passed away last year at the age of 25 from an accidental overdose.
One of the standout segments of the anthology film features Ellis fighting against a group of neo-Nazis. Reflecting on this scene, Ellis shared that he had the opportunity to meet Angus Cloud while preparing for the scene. The two actors immediately clicked and had a great time together, constantly laughing throughout their time on set. Ellis even mentioned that they supported each other through any challenging moments they faced during filming. Seeing the entire cast come together and work on the movie was an amazing experience for Ellis.
Ellis went on to pay tribute to Cloud, expressing his admiration for the late actor's performance and the fun they had together on set. Cloud's memory is also honored in the film's credits with a title card reading "In loving memory of Angus Cloud."
Freaky Tales, directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, marks the filmmakers' first movie since 2019's Captain Marvel. In addition to Ellis and Cloud, the movie also stars Pedro Pascal, Ben Mendelsohn, Normani, Jack Champion, and Too Short. This film showcases one of Cloud's final performances on screen.
Despite the tragedy of Cloud's passing, Jay Ellis remembers his time working with him on Freaky Tales with fondness, highlighting the laughter and camaraderie they shared during filming.
