A cat named Ashes was reunited with her family in Maine after going missing for seven years. The Cilley family received a phone call from a vet's office in Florida informing them that Ashes had been found thanks to a microchip. The family was shocked as they had no idea how their cat made it all the way down the Eastern seaboard. Ashes had slipped outside when she was just a year old and was too small to go on outdoor adventures with her older siblings.

The family searched for her but assumed the worst when they saw predators on their trail camera. Ashes had been taken in by a couple in Florida who provided her with food and realized she needed medical attention. She was eventually flown back to Maine with the help of a Southwest employee and is now home, healthy, and happy with her family. The Cilley family encourages others to microchip their pets to increase the chances of being reunited if they ever go missing.
