Lily-Rose Depp, the daughter of famous actor Johnny Depp, could not contain her pride when speaking virtually from the Cannes Film Festival. She expressed her joy over the seven-minute standing ovation her father received after the premiere of his latest film, Jeanne du Barry. The biographical drama, set in the 18th century, portrays Johnny as King Louis XV and tells the story of Jeanne Bécu's rise from an impoverished seamstress to the last official mistress of the king.
Lily-Rose couldn't help but gush about her father's success, saying, "I'm super happy for him. I'm super excited. And it's so awesome that we get to do projects that we're super proud of.
" The actress also received her own standing ovation after a screening of her new HBO drama series, The Idol. Directed by Sam Levinson, the show follows the story of Jocelyn, played by Lily-Rose, a pop star who experiences a psychotic break after her mother's death. She meets Tedros, portrayed by The Weeknd, and together they navigate the music industry and their own personal struggles.During a press conference, Lily-Rose addressed the criticism the show has received for its explicit content and portrayal of the music industry.
She brushed off claims of a toxic on-set environment, stating that her experience was quite the opposite. She expressed her disappointment in false reports, saying, "It’s always a little sad and disheartening to see mean, false things said about someone you care about, and that you know is not like that. It wasn't reflective at all of my experience."Both Lily-Rose and Johnny seem to be thriving in their respective projects, garnering praise and adoration from audiences. They are excited to share their work with the world and couldn't be prouder of each other's accomplishments.
