Oomi, a tiny tortie kitten, had a difficult start in life. At just 4 weeks old, she was abandoned and brought to the ASPCA Kitten Nursery in New York City. It was clear from the beginning that something was wrong with her eyes, which were bulging, most likely due to a bacterial infection.

Luckily for Oomi, she was placed under the care of Cerena, who worked at the rescue organization. From the moment Cerena picked her up, it was evident that there was a special connection between them. Cerena and her fiancé, Anthony, decided to foster Oomi and soon fell in love with her.

Despite Oomi's medical condition, Cerena and Anthony made the decision to adopt her. However, her eyes would have to be removed at a later date when she was strong enough. In the meantime, they showered Oomi with love and provided her with the care she needed.

During Oomi's recovery period, she faced an unexpected emergency. One of her eyes ruptured in the middle of the night, prompting the need for immediate surgery. Despite the unforeseen circumstances, Oomi bravely underwent the enucleation procedure and made a quick recovery. Within a few days, she was back to her old, energetic self, showing no signs of being blind.

Oomi's doctor was amazed by her resilience and quick bounce back after surgery. She adjusted to her blindness remarkably well, navigating her new home with ease, only occasionally bumping into a wall. Oomi loves to climb, explore, and play, just like any other kitten. Her lack of vision does not hinder her zest for life.

In an incredible twist of fate, Oomi not only brought joy to Cerena and Anthony, but she also provided Cerena with a reason to continue her own recovery. Cerena had been dealing with various medical problems and was in the process of physically and mentally healing from a car accident. Oomi's presence in her life brought laughter and motivation during a difficult time. Cerena believes that Oomi entered her life exactly when she needed her the most.
