According to a study published in the Journal of the International Society of Anthrozoology, girls who sleep with their dogs tend to have a better quality of sleep. The research found that compared to human bed partners, dogs were perceived to disturb sleep less and provided greater comfort and security. The study surveyed almost 1,000 women in the United States to examine the relationship between pet ownership and human sleep. Results showed that dog owners wake up and go to bed earlier than those who own cats or no pets at all. Feline bed partners were reported to be fairly similar to human partners but provided weaker feelings of comfort and safety compared to both human and dog bed partners.
