Lilo, a German shepherd-Great Pyrenees mix, was found wandering with a note attached to her collar, stating that her owner was homeless and couldn't afford to keep her, but asked whoever found Lilo to "please love me." McKamey Animal Center of Chattanooga shared Lilo's story on Facebook and within 24 hours, her owner was reunited with her.
The animal center is now working with partnering agencies to help the family find a pet-friendly shelter. In Lilo's honor, the center has also created the MAC Cares Fund to prevent family pets from being separated from their families and to provide assistance to pet owners experiencing hardship.
