Deike Behringer, a photographer from Germany, spends her summers volunteering with Estepona Cat Rescue in Southern Spain. The organization works to save the unwanted cats in the area. Estepona's cats are often seen as pests rather than pets, and the local shelters and killing stations don't make much effort to promote adoptions.
Cleo Wrobel, who runs Estepona Cat Rescue, has dedicated her life and home to rescuing and rehoming Spanish street cats. She has saved over 500 animals, mostly cats. Wrobel cares for the cats in her home and a large cat house in her yard. She provides food, supplies, veterinary care, and writes their adoption profiles. Behringer assists Wrobel with the website and social media profiles, and takes beautiful photos of the cats available for adoption. Estepona Cats is a small but dedicated team, and they rely on donations to continue their rescue efforts.
