A dog named Violet, an English Mastiff, was thrown out of a car like a piece of garbage and was rescued by an honest Samaritan. Violet was severely emaciated and had many pressure sores all over her body. The rescuer took her to Prince George's County Animal Control, and she was then placed with volunteer Debbie Gretz, who has experience with caring for severely emaciated dogs.
Debbie is giving Violet many small, nutritious meals each day to slowly build up her health and weight. Violet now wags her tail every time she sees Debbie. Despite her past, Violet is learning to rise up the steps, going for walks with friends, and learning what it's like to be part of a family. The Humane Society of the United States is offering a $5,000 reward for information on Violet's abuser. After several months of care, Violet now weighs 138 pounds and is enjoying the love and attention she deserves.
