Couple Went to Shelter Just to 'Look at' a Cat with Enormous Cheeks, It Turned Out to Be So Much More

Grizzly, a stray cat found in rough shape, was brought to Lollypop Farm for help after being suspected of being in a car accident. The estimated 10-year-old cat had spent most of his life outdoors and was in need of medical attention. Lollypop Farm shared that, in addition to the injuries sustained from the accident, Grizzly also had an upper respiratory infection and needed teeth pulled. Despite his hardships, Grizzly had a sweet-natured personality.

Under the care of Lollypop Farm, Grizzly made a full recovery in foster care. He gained weight and energy, and his big cheeks remained adorable. To increase his chances of finding a good home, Grizzly was placed in the adoption area with other cats and kittens.

However, he often went unnoticed as he preferred to stay curled up in his bed away from visitors. Staff and volunteers would spend time with him, knowing that he just needed a quiet place and a warm lap to truly shine.

Meanwhile, Amber was casually browsing the shelter's page, a hobby she enjoyed during rainy days. She wasn't looking to adopt, but she couldn't help but be drawn to one particular cat - Grizzly. His big cheeks and eyes seemed to tell a lifetime of stories, and she felt an immediate connection. Though her boyfriend, Dan, wasn't a cat person, he agreed to accompany her to the shelter just to take a look.

Once at the shelter, the couple searched for Grizzly and found him fast asleep on a window perch, while the younger kittens clamored for attention. Grizzly seemed tired and unresponsive as they tried to interact with him. Thankfully, a staff member opened his area, allowing them to make a connection.

When Grizzly turned his head to look at Amber and Dan, it was love at first sight. They couldn't bear to leave him behind and decided to take him home for a trial period. They quickly realized that Grizzly was the missing piece in their lives. The journey home was smooth, with Grizzly falling asleep in his carrier during the car ride.

At home, they set up a comfortable space for Grizzly, complete with multiple litter boxes, his favorite food, toys, and his very own throne - a personal couch. They took turns showering him with treats and affection, making sure he felt loved and welcomed. In no time, Grizzly felt like he belonged.

Grizzly, now named Mr. Jenkins, quickly became an integral part of the couple's lives. He showered them with love and affection, often jumping onto their laps or chests for a cuddle. They describe him as having the combined personality of a million cats, highlighting his loving and attention-seeking nature.

He even gives them hugs with his paws.

Mr. Jenkins is now on a routine schedule, reminding his new family when it's mealtime and demanding pets on demand. The couple is grateful to Lollypop Farm for completing their family. They fell in love with a cat they initially only intended to "look at," and they wouldn't have it any other way. Mr. Jenkins never has to worry about finding a home again; he is here to stay, forever.
