Sergeant Kyle Smith and his German Shepherd partner, Bodza, formed a strong and loyal bond while working together in the US Air Force. When Bodza retired, Smith adopted him, and they spent many happy years together, until Bodza was diagnosed with an incurable disease.
Smith made the difficult decision to put Bodza down and nine of his co-workers accompanied him to the vet clinic. Bodza passed away peacefully in Smith's arms, surrounded by those who loved him. Smith remembers Bodza's selflessness and loyalty and misses him every day. In his final moments, Bodza had a smile on his face.
